In a recent tweet, Hissrich revealed that she had just watched a cut of The Witcher, remarking that the show was definitely not for 5-year-olds. Hopefully, this mature approach to the show and its material is able to do justice to the lore-rich world belonging to Geralt of Rivia. And hopefully, this does much to squash the qualms that many are having with this show pre-launch.
It’s worth mentioning that the show began production a few months back, and as expected, it does not yet have a solid launch date. Those wanting a glimpse into this Netflix adaption can check out Man of Steel and Immortals star Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia here. While this decision remains a tad divisive, it remains to be seen how Henry Cavill influences The Witcher.
For those ready to see the mature experience promised and how Hissrich brings the world of Witcher to life, there are a few details worth highlighting. First, it has 8 episodes to avoid a story buckling in the middle. Secondly, Hissrich has promised that they are working on the show at breakneck speed, but since quality trumps speed, she has previously stated that it could be 2020 before the show launches, though many are expecting 2019.
Taking all of this into consideration, Netflix’s adaptation of The Witcher will hopefully live up to fan expectation and the work that it is adapting. Of course, that is all still in the air, but the promise of a mature experience may very well be considered a step in the right direction by many.
The Witcher is expected to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2019.
