The new patch will also enable The Witcher 3’s gorgeous graphics to take advantage of the enhanced hardware capabilities of the PS4 Pro. While the statement doesn’t go in-depth on what the patch will precisely offer, the fact that 4K resolution and better performance are on the table for PS4 Pro users is a huge deal, especially given the fact that CD Projekt Red had announced months ago that the studio didn’t expect to continue supporting The Witcher 3 now that its expansions have wrapped up.
Apparently, however, the Poland-based studio couldn’t resist tinkering with The Witcher 3 at least one more time. That’s consistent with the way the studio approaches its properties, as fan support of various features have been propped up into giant patches before - not to mention the fact that the release of Gwent, a successful online card game, was entirely spurred on by the popularity of its existence as a Witcher 3 minigame.
Now that the latest Witcher 3 patch has been unveiled, however, it seems likely that CD Projekt Red is finally done with its beloved RPG franchise. With CD Projekt Red’s next project, Cyberpunk 2077, supposedly bigger than The Witcher 3, the team will surely have to come together to work hard on living up to the reputation the studio has crafted for itself.
Or there will be another Witcher 3 patch in a few months, once the team finds something else they want to improve. CD Projekt Red is full of surprises, and fans of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt certainly aren’t complaining about any of them.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
