Epic’s sale discounts games in two ways. First, it features standard discounts. The Witcher 3, for example, was discounted 70% from $49.99 to $14.99. The second part of the sale is a $10 reusable coupon that can be used on any game $14.99 or up. That means that when the sale went live, The Witcher 3 was available for just $4.99 — that’s no longer the case.

Saturday morning, CD Projekt Red adjusted The Witcher 3’s full price from $49.99 to $49.96, making its 70% discounts drop from $14.99 to $14.98, so the $10 coupon could no longer be applied to The Witcher 3. Instead of $4.99, buyers must now pay $14.99.
The Witcher 3 - Game of the Year Edition is still an excellent deal for $14.99. It includes the full base game as well as both the Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine expansions, as well as other DLC. However, it’s a bit offputting to see CD Projekt Red go out of its way to deny a discount from its fans. Perhaps using the $10 coupon means less cash for game developers, or perhaps CD Projekt Red didn’t want the EGS sale to look better compared to other storefronts’ discounts.
The Witcher 3 is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
