The War Against Jihadism

Such reticence is an obstacle to victory in a war we cannot avoid and in which we must prevail. For if there is one thing certain in this season of great uncertainties, it is that the war against jihadism will be staring the next president of the United States in the face at high noon on Inauguration Day, 2009. That is what we are fighting: jihadism, the religiously inspired ideology which teaches that it is every Muslim’s duty to use any means necessary to compel the world’s submission to Islam....

The War Without End

Returning to the scene 24 years later, I could see the explosions, hear the fallen men cry, “Medic! Medic! Medic!” I could smell the cordite from rockets, bombs and artillery shells thundering down upon the Viet Cong fortifications. Once again I watched enemy fire cut Lt. William Torpie down as he tried to rally his trapped company. I heard the ammunition chopper crash with its crew chief trapped inside the metal inferno, and heard his screams until death ended his agony....

The Witcher 3 Mod Adds Henry Cavill As Geralt

It has only been a few days since the release Netflix’s The Witcher series, and while critics can’t seem to make up their minds about the show, audiences can’t get enough of it–it’s already Netflix’s highest-rated series ever on IMDB as fans of both the books and video games rally around it. So, it shouldn’t be terribly surprising that the equally-beloved Witcher 3 is now getting mods that bring a little bit of the show into CD Projekt Red’s virtual world....

The World Deserves A Proper Goldeneye 007 Sequel

Rare left GoldenEye 007 out of the Rare Replay collection for a couple of reasons. For one, Rare doesn’t have the rights to the 007 license anymore. Secondly, the developers at Rare decided that only games featuring characters that Rare created itself would be included in Rare Replay, which is disappointing considering the cultural significance of GoldenEye 007 arguably outweighs that of many of Rare’s homegrown IP. Even though Rare Replay may get more games added as DLC, we have yet to see that happen, and even if it does, I doubt that GoldenEye 007 will ever be considered....

Therapy And Mental Health Services For Deaf People

A long time ago, I myself needed such services locally and the only program I could find was a small county-run program that had therapists who could sign. The program was so small that it could not serve many people, and I was fortunate to be able to get services at a time when I needed them. Deaf children and teens are also sometimes in need of mental health services....

There Is Gold In Graying Europe

It was all that, and something more. The impact on German business was just the collateral damage of a deal done to exploit the fastest-growing market in all of Europe’s financial history–private pensions. More than a year before the merger announcement, Allianz chairman Henning Schulte-Noelle had followed trends showing that European welfare states aren’t prepared to support a growing population of aging baby boomers in their golden years. Public pensions, or pay-as-you-go systems, might have worked when there were plenty of young people to support each retiree....

A Note on Discounts and Sales In most cases, comparison shopping among a few stores for the item you want can often lead to saving money or getting some additional products or services along with your purchase. The Tunes You Can T Refuse

A toothless man picks up a zampogna, a crude bagpipe made of billy-goat skin, and produces a first few wheezing groans. Another old-timer bangs a tambourine. A young man named Pepe pumps a small wooden accordion. Foot-stomping rhythms and high-pitched, nasal voices bounce off the humble stucco house behind us and rattle the patio’s corrugated-tin canopy. The guy I decide is boss–a commanding, slightly scary man in shorts and a Nike hat–pulls a plump woman from the crowd, and they break into a shuffling, skipping dance, circling one another while barely touching hands....
